Ekansh Tambe

Never has our country been more divided on the issue of border security and immigration. Ekansh’s photography project chronicles the fence, the culture, and the people as he encountered them while on an eleven-day journey with his family along most of the 1,900 miles of the US-Mexican land border. Ekansh got a sense of the humanitarian situation firsthand, hearing it from the people whose lives have been affected the most. Ekansh’s journey continued in December of 2017, when he explored the border between North and South Korea, and again the following summer as he and his younger sister, Ashna, travelled Israel's borders with the West Bank (Palestine), Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and Gaza. Inspiring and heartbreaking stories were heard and many photographs were taken.

Ekansh is a public speaker and shares his journey across six world borders and promotes empathy, sympathy and compassion. He resides in Dallas with his parents, younger sister, and dog (Ricky). He loves reading, traveling, meeting new people, playing ping pong with his sister, and competing in local tennis tournaments. He loves photography and has a collection of over ten thousand photos shot along the various borders he’s visited, thanks to the mentoring and assistance of his parents. He can’t wait to speak of his love for photography, tell his stories, and share from his collection of photos. Ekansh is a Sophomore at St. Mark’s School of Texas.
